evolution data file management

the data files for evolution is not .evolution in the home folder.
the data files are located at
.evolution
.gconf/apps/evolution
.gnome2_private

i still have a few questions as to where exactly is the address book located.
copying .evolution alone couldn't solve my problem.

freedom walk

a few of my friends have initiated a walk from kasaragode the north most district to trivandrum the sound most district of kerala. the details of which can be found freedomwalk.in.
three of them anoop, cherry and sooraj started from kasaragode on 2nd of october, gandhiji's birth day.
the walk is about freedom.
the walk has to be a successful event if and only if we people can extend a hand to support the venture through prompt initiative.

a monsoon in malabar

here is the tour plan as i propose it
be prepared to walk in rain, as it is a monsoon season.
june 4:
8 am : reaching calicut railway station
8 to 10 : dress change at beypore resort,
10 to 12: visiting beypore port, walking into the sea through the break waters, and watch dolphins (if you are lucky enough), uru making,
lunch at soni's home
2-6 : kappad (where vaco de gama landed) visit, sand banks(turtle hatchery) and travel in a country boat.

travel to nilambur which is about 100 kms away to the eastern end of kerala and staying at nilambur (the exact name of the village we are going to stay is pullippadam; 2/3 rd of the village is forest)

saturday early morning, trekking to oli water falls. will be difficult to reach the top of the falls, if it is raining heavily). also you can expect leach bites, take it easy, it is a harm less creature, and salt is the weapon we have to fight with leaches.

by around noon, we will visit canolyś plot(worldś oldest teak plantation), teak museum, butter fly garden. much more are there, where to go around depends on time availability.

in the evening we are going to travel to wynad and stay there at night.
sunday early morning , watching sunrise from "sunrise valley".
after that we will go for a trekking to edakkal caves. then kayaking in a natural lake.
around 5 pm, travelling back to calicut.

matlab controlled robot

my friend junise has done a wonderful job.
he has made a robot which can be controlled easily from a matlab environment with just one line of code

establishing internet connection thorugh gprs in ubuntu

one of the difficulties with gnu/linux as many people have pointed out was lack of nokia pc suite for establishing a gprs internet connection. last day i have succesfully configured wvdial to work with a nokia phone with gprs internet facility. the solution is given below

connect the phone to pc thrugh usb data cable.
open a terminal and execute the command sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf

read the echoed messages on the terminal.
the above command configures the /etc/wvdial.conf file to an extend.

open /etc/wvdial.conf (the command is sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf)

on seeing the file one will able to identify the modifications to be made.

close the file.

inorder to connect to internet.
execute the command wvdial

to terminate connection press cntrl + c
